A white bird stands on one leg. Shh! Arjun paddles softly. The bird does not move.

The sun goes down. The boat comes home. Arjun says, “The river is a road!”

Next day Arjun goes out again. A fish jumps. Plop!

A boy on the bank waves. Arjun waves back with the big paddle. Oops, splash!

Now Arjun can paddle alone. Slow and quiet, like the river.
