Long ago, Arjun makes a new game for the king. The board has 64 squares.

The king loves the game. “Ask for any prize!” he says.

Arjun says, “One grain of rice on the first square. Two on the next. Then four, then eight.”

The king laughs. “Only rice? Bring it!”

But the rice doubles and doubles. Soon there is not enough rice in the whole kingdom!

The king bows to Arjun. “You are very clever. Now, let us just play the game!”
